I was a volunteer at Bristol Senior House with B.U.D.S. on December 2, 2023. This was one of the most heart-warming environments I got to experience alongside other passionate volunteers. We assisted the staff and senior citizens with their afternoon activities while introducing other stimulating and cozy activities such as coloring, origami, music performances, and storytelling. Listening to the experiences they have gone through, allowed me to picture unique stories that bring happiness to individuals and show the growth of our seniors.

This was a great experience and an opportunity to showcase musical talents, compassion, communication skills, and collaboration between other volunteers and our seniors. In spite of the volunteer hours, this experience warmed my heart and brought attention to the thousands of elderly people in our community that just need someone to talk to or a light of youth. My collaboration with my fellow volunteers made it possible to talk to and manage everyone while making deep-rooted memories.

This Event allowed the younger generations to showcase what a few leisure activities are enjoyed by the youth today. These activities includes: Origami, Coloring, Partnered-Bingo, Dancing, and Instruments. Our volunteers displayed an outstanding performance with an ensemble that was assembled only a few minutes before the show. The ensemble played a variety of holiday music such as "Winter Wonderland" by Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard Bernhard, "Frosty the Snowman" by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve, and more. The partnered-bingo may have collided with a bit of confusion on the technicalities of how it worked but, was ultimately a great conversation starter! We are so grateful for our extravagant volunteers to be able to preform despite the challenges and hope everybody enjoyed their time and perhaps learned something new.
