As a volunteer who went to John D. Caemmerer Park with countless other eager volunteers, I was greeted by a kind and welcoming group of people. We all pitched in to decorate and color posters for B.U.D.S. It was a rather relaxing experience to color with other volunteers. Once we created enough posters groups of volunteers set out to post the flyers around the neighborhood. This event was a great way to meet new people who were also interested in helping promote B.U.D.S. while earning volunteer credit.

Volunteers also learned more about the Mentor Program. This program is a great opportunity for both mentors and mentees. Mentors sign up to teach subjects they are passionate about like English, mathematics, science, art, sports, etc. People who would like to learn about these fields can sign up to be mentored. This contributes positively to both the mentors and mentees in that we get to engage with others in the community. Mentors are able to share their knowledge on topics of interest and mentees can gain knowledge by trusted individuals right within the community.

We appreciate the volunteers who came to the event and can’t wait to receive submissions to be either a mentor or mentee for our Mentor Program. We hope this resourceful program spreads and brings value to all who sign up.
